Hand-Folded Book Art Sculpture - George by Frieda Hughes

A hand-folded book sculpture made from a hardback copy of "George: A Magpie Memoir" by Frieda Hughes, transformed page by page into a striking three-dimensional piece.

Every page has been individually folded to build the diamond, fan-like form, with no cutting and no glue, just patient, precise paper folding, each fold measured and pressed by hand to keep the pattern even and the silhouette clean.

The original green cloth cover, printed with the book's title, author and magpie emblem, remains intact and forms the backdrop either side of the folded pages, giving the piece a lovely contrast between the structured paper sculpture and the softer, feather-patterned endpapers.

As a piece, it works well as a standalone table or shelf sculpture, and has a nice bit of literary interest built in given the subject of the original book (Frieda Hughes' memoir of raising an orphaned magpie).

Because it's entirely hand-folded, no two pieces are ever quite identical. This is a one-of-a-kind item, once it's sold, it's gone.
