Vintage Roslyn Mint Green and Gold Lace Sugar Bowl | Fine Bone China, Circa 1950s

£30.00

A pretty vintage Roslyn fine bone china sugar bowl, made in England and dating from around the 1950s.

The outside of the bowl is decorated with a deep border of gold lace swags hanging from the shaped rim, each one filled with a delicate filigree flower. Below this runs a band of gold scrollwork framed by fine gilt lines, and the lower body is glazed in a soft mint green. The bowl stands on a gleaming gold foot.

Inside, the bowl is white with a hand-finished look floral spray, featuring a pink cabbage rose with blue, purple, red and yellow blooms, and a gold line running around the gently scalloped rim.

The base carries the Roslyn backstamp, "Roslyn Fine Bone China Made in England", in green and pink.

It would make a lovely addition to a vintage tea set, or a charming piece on its own for sugar cubes, jewellery or small trinkets on a dressing table.

A Note on Roslyn China
Roslyn China was produced in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, the heart of the English Potteries. The firm grew from Reid & Co. of the Roslyn Works and became known for its fine bone china teaware during the mid-20th century.

Roslyn pieces are much loved by collectors for their pretty florals, soft pastel grounds and generous gilding. This sugar bowl, with its mint green body and ornate gold lace border, is a lovely example of that elegant mid-century style.
