Royal Tichelaar Makkum Lidded Dish | Hand-Painted Frisian Pottery

£50.00

A charming vintage lidded dish from Royal Tichelaar Makkum, the historic Dutch pottery founded in 1594 and one of the oldest working potteries in the Netherlands.

The lid is hand-painted with a traditional Frisian polychrome design: a central medallion in deep cobalt blue, picked out with yellow and soft coral-pink floral scrollwork, bordered by a repeating band of tulips and daisies. The scalloped oval body carries the same colour palette around its sides, sitting on a matching footed base, with a hand-painted floral knop to the lid.

Marked to the base with the Makkum shield stamp, decorator initials "RR", and pattern number 48.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition overall, with only one tiny spot of wear noted to the rim.

Please study the photographs carefully, as they form part of the description and show the true colouring, glaze and condition of the piece.
